Painted Pepper Farm Spring 2026 Newsletter

Painted Pepper Farm Spring 2026 Newsletter

Hello Painted Pepper Farm Friends & Family!

PDF VERSION FOR PRINTING

Spring has arrived and the Farm is slowly waking up with birdsong and emerging flowers.

With the snow gone, our Delightful Dairy Does are now venturing into the woods, returning to their daily herding rhythm. We are currently milking ½ of our milking herd of 28, eight  of which are on extended lactation to help us keep a year-round milk supply, and we are preparing actively for our kidding season which will begin mid-May.

Meanwhile, we are continuing in the Creamery and Farm Kitchen making delicious Dairy Delights in small batches, and stocking up on our “Not Too Sweet Treats” and Maine Organic Preserves — preparing our preorders for FarmDrop each week, keeping  our open anytime/all-the-time Farm Stand in good supply and our wholesale accounts well stocked, as well.

Below are some exciting developments and updates that we shared on social media that we wanted to share with you here as well!

SUPPORT PAINTED PEPPER FARM’S DELIGHTFUL DAIRY DOES

Our Delightful Dairy Does are grateful for your support — because of our customers, they have a pretty idyllic life, especially as  the woods come back to life  with forage and browse. While they are very resourceful and extremely hard working, still they depend on you and your purchases of products and their kids to shoulder the hefty feed bill that they require to stay healthy and productive.

Here is how your dollars can best help keep our Delightful Dairy Does fed:

1 Reserve a goat! — we still have a few excellent yearlings and senior does available! In fact, we have a trip planned at the end of April leaving from Maine to Tennessee and can deliver! We are also taking reservations for our upcoming kidding season.

Message us or VISIT our Goat Sales Information page to learn more

2 Purchase our Dairy Delights DIRECTLY  from our self-serve open all-the-time Farm Stand or by mail order

Pay with cash/check rather than plastic — 100% of your $$ goes to the goats. With plastic 3% goes to the bank — 97%  of your $$ goes to the goats

3 Order our products through FarmDrop

This is the next best option! We donate 15% of what you pay to FarmDrop for their fantabulous help with the web platform and getting everything to you conveniently — and it’s well worth it!

 — 85% of your $$ goes to the goats

4 Purchase our Dairy Delights and other Farm Goodies from one of our wholesale partners

It all makes a difference and helps support local grocers and bakeries in the process! — 60% of your $$ goes to the goats

FOOD SECURITY FUND

Painted Pepper Farm  and The Mindful Loaf Baking Company are both passionate about assisting local food pantries to help battle food Insecurity in our area. We are partnering to bring fresh sourdough bread and our Dairy Delights goat chevre to community pantries but we can’t do it without help.

Every $5 raised will cover the cost of ingredients, production, and transport to a pantry of either a loaf of sourdough or a 4oz tub of chevre.

Whether you are able to give $1, $5, or more, every dollar will make an impact on the lives of a local family in need.

Let’s make a difference in our community together!

Donate in person at our Farm Stand or at The Mindful Loaf Bread Shed OR online HERE

Enjoy Farmer Lisa’s STORM DAMAGE Poetry

As we move into the Spring of  2026, it is the perfect opportunity to look back at our Spring 2025 Magical Musical Poetry Tour of Farmer Lisa’s poetry collection STORM DAMAGE: Transformative Healing.

We have collected the recorded performances, written poems as well as the musical prologue and epilogue featuring photos and videos from our Farm’s Moo’s Corner Nature  Sanctuary all in one place so you can enjoy and savor.

Here is a sampling of what our audiences shared:

“Awesome and powerful!”

“…Deeply personal, yet also playful and transcendent.  It will be on my mind for a long time to come…”

“What an amazing and beautiful expression of profound loss and resurrection.”

Thank you to all who have shared in the STORM DAMAGE experience so far and those to come! While the published collection in book form is still in process, you may begin or extend your STORM DAMAGE experience at any time by visiting our WinterSea Theatre Experiment page dedicated to all things STORM DAMAGE
